Selecting a name for our farm was something we pondered for quite some time. Norwegian Fjords are a magical breed of horse, and we wanted to select a name that reflected that.  When we first purchased our farm, while at the farm coop, Carol struck up a conversation with a lady regarding children and activities for the summer.  She spoke of an aunt that made things fun for them each summer.  The aunt told the children when there was a midsummer full moon fairies came to visit and if you left them food, they would leave you gifts.  Of course, we began that tradition. We had tiny tables and chairs set out on a tall table, for the fairies to land on, with the smallest sandwiches and desserts you could possibly make.  The grandchildren loved helping with the set up.  Gifts were left for the children and fairy dust was sprinkled to leave the fairy trail.  This yearly event resulted in Fairy Landing Farm being selected as the name of our farm.

    FLF Brina ($8,500)

FLF Brina is a 2023 Brown Dun filly out of Ironwood Jinger a Red Dun and sired by Tolgar a Gray Dun. Brina is fully registered with the Norwegian Fjord Horse Registry (NFHR) and has been micro-chipped. Brina is considered tall for a little over 2-years old and is expected to fully mature at about 14.2 hands.

Some notables in Brina’s pedigree include Ironwood Blitzen (a Hall of Fame Stallion), Tolgar (a Blue Ribbon Stallion), Prydarson (a Blue Ribbon Stallion with score of 87 one of the highest scores in confirmation and movement) and Gjest.

Brina will have a sporty frame and will be smooth in her movements as she will have a slightly longer frame, like her dam Jinger.

Brina has the typical Fjord temperament. You can expect her to be among the first to greet you. She is curious about what is happening around the farm. Brina has been raised in a herd environment and has served as a nanny to weaning foals proving her compassion and demeanor.

As a foal and during weaning Brina lost her two upper front teeth. We are not sure what caused the loss of the two teeth (an accident with other horses or the result of stress during weaning and associated with cribbing).  Due to her young age when the incident occurred our vet has stated that he did not expect replacement teeth to come in.  Brina does not appear to be regenerating replacement teeth, and the vet has stated that the loss of the two teeth will not cause Brina any problems as she matures.

Hauk has an inquisitive personality. He has a great looking head, and all indications are that he will have a full forelock and his mane is narrow and easy to maintain. Hauk like attention and you might find him walking across the field to see if you need assistance.
